The Wing Aviation Scholarship Fund was established to help the local community in two ways: First, the scholarship fund program recognizes and aids deserving students in Houston and surrounding areas who are eligible for the awards based on need and academic achievement by providing assistance with technical school expenses. Second, the scholarship fund program provides an opportunity for an internship with Wing Aviation, a gateway to the world of aviation and all aspects of the aviation industry, in fields ranging from accounting to mechanical technicians.

Eligibility

Those eligible to apply are technical students of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).

Awards

For 2008, the fund will award $13,500 in scholarships; one at $5,000, one at $2,500, and three at $2,000.

Selections

The scholarship review board will award applicants the scholarships. In selecting the approved applicants, the Executive Board evaluates the applicants’ academic records, test scores, extracurricular activities, financial status, and recommendations.

Responsibilities of Recipients

Scholarship recipients must enroll as at least half-time students in the semester in which the scholarships are awarded and continue in school for the entire academic semester without interruption – barring illness, emergency, or military service. Scholarship recipients are responsible for making certain that their scholarship checks are delivered to their colleges or schools.

Payment of Funds

Checks will be mailed to and payable to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for credit to the recipients’ tuition.
